Why Saint Michael’s College

You’ll get the support you need
St. Mike’s has created a safe space for student veterans to transition from military to student life. Our office helps student veterans in all aspects of their transition, from answering any questions about the Post-9/11 GI Bill® or Yellow Ribbon Benefits, to offering a space to talk about your transition from military to student life. Ken O’Connell, the VA Certifying official, will make sure all VA and Military Affiliated education paperwork is filled out so that students receive their benefits in a timely manner. St. Mike’s houses an active chapter of the Student Veterans Association where you can talk to people who have had similar experiences. Finally, the community you’ll find on campus is nothing short of supportive, engaged and passionate; your classmates will do their best to make you feel at home on campus as well.

Post-9/11 GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Access to excellent academics
You’ll be able to choose from more than 40 majors; each is grounded in a meaningful liberal studies curriculum. That means you’re going to learn about our world, past, present and future. You’ll study things you’ll need four years from now, and things you’ll recall 20 years from now. You’ll critically examine issues, solve abstract and concrete problems, and think for yourself, while keeping others in mind.

Saint Michael’s is recognized nationally as one of top liberal arts colleges in the country. U.S. News and World Report ranked SMC 99th on its top colleges list, we are one of the Princeton Reviews top 378 colleges and Travel + Leisure named Burlington the top town to go to college in the United States.

Internships and Study Abroad
Learning goes beyond the classroom. Saint Michael’s strives to support and foster an academic environment where students gain knowledge and experience through practical application. Our internship and study abroad offices work closely with students to craft programs to fit within their educational goals. More than a third of Saint Michael’s students spend at least a semester abroad and over 73% work in their field of study off campus.
