    Correctional Volleyball

What involvement did/do you have with MOVE? What program did/do you volunteer with and/or lead? What years?
    Correctional Volleyball for 4 years

    What’s your MOVE story?
I signed up for Correctional Volleyball in the fall of my freshman year. At the time, they were looking for another leader for that program. I decided I would apply and the rest was history! Just about every week after that, I’d go to the Chittenden County Correctional Facility on Thursday nights to play volleyball with the women in the facility.

In what ways did/does MOVE impact you?
MOVE continues to impact me in the ways I think about service and social justice. I had the opportunity to work for MOVE one summer…I really enjoyed getting to work with Lara every day! To this day, I continue to take the experiences and skills from MOVE into my professional career.

If you are an alumni, what influence does MOVE continue to have on your life today?
As a current teacher in Essex, Vermont, I make it a goal of mine to share my experiences with MOVE with my students. I talk about what it was like to go on a service trip and what it was like to develop my leadership skills over the years. I enjoy watching students’ curiosity pique at the thought of being able to make an impact one day.
