Lindsay Feeney
Current job title and employer and briefly describe what it is you do: I am a web application developer at Driven - a mental health startup based in Sydney, Australia that focuses on building resilience and overall mental well-being in people of all ages. I help build different functionalities in the app, working with a range of technology, including large relational databases and artificial intelligence software.
Academic experience at Saint Michael's College help prepare you for your career: St. Michael's gave me a great foundation for computer science knowledge. The curriculum was thorough and regularly applicable in many areas of my job. Of course, there is much that is learned on-site working as a developer, but without the education I received from St. Mike's, I would be nowhere as prepared and confident as I feel now!
Favorite memory or class from your time studying at St. Mike’s: My favorite class might have been e-Commerce! It was really fun and exciting for me to learn front end dev technologies that gave me a new love and appreciation for UI/UX design!
Translated your volunteer experience at Saint Michael’s into giving back to your community after graduation: My volunteer experience grew my desire to help people and improve their lives for the better, which is how I shaped many of my values after graduating and eventually found my current company that aligns directly with these values.
Other information you would like to share or advice for incoming or current students: Working in the "real world" might seem very intimidating at first, and you may feel like you are not ready for it! But trust me, St. Michael's CS program gives a great background for you to jump start your career. It's not at scary as you may think. Good luck!
