What’s your MOVE story?
My MOVE story IS my St. Mike’s story. I spent every extra minute I could in the MOVE office, on MOVE projects, or with friends I had made through MOVE. College was a time when I really came out of my shell and developed my leadership potential. I credit that to my involvement with MOVE and all the amazing staff and students who encouraged me along the way. The highlight of my time in College, and one of the fondest, most eye-opening memories of my life, was being able to travel to Kolkata with the MOVE extended service group. The hands-on opportunities I was able to participate in have instilled in me a lifelong dedication to service and community.
In what ways did/does MOVE impact you?
Because of MOVE, I grew to appreciate and seek out ways to become involved in whatever community I am a part of. I have volunteered with various organizations since graduating. I want to leave the places I live better than I found them, a lesson I learned by visiting local and global locations with MOVE. MOVE taught me that society has so many issues to tackle and that I should lend a hand if I am able.
If you are an alumni, what influence does MOVE continue to have on your life today?
MOVE is the reason I chose my professional field! I work in higher education, connecting students to co-curricular opportunities that they are passionate about. Having MOVE as my own experience is what set me on a path to want to help other College students find their own MOVE.
