William “Bill” Dillon passed away on July 6, 2025 after a period of declining health, at age 81.
Bill was the beloved son of Thomas and Hazel Dillon and was born on January 13, 1944 in Middletown. He was predeceased by his brother Tom and sister Hazel (Honey).
Bill graduated from Middletown High School and St. Michael’s College in Vermont. He received his MALS from Wesleyan University. For many years he was the Interlibrary Loan Librarian at Olin Library at Wesleyan. He retired from the Connecticut State Library Interlibrary Loan Center in Rocky Hill. He was active for many years as a Democrat in Middletown politics and issues.
Bill will be remembered fondly for his generous heart, his sharp mind and his outgoing personality.
He made friends wherever he went and was a truly loving and beautiful person.
Bill is survived by his nephew James Hofher and nieces Mary Beth Hofher, Patsy Mylchreest, Kathy Scaife, Karen Williams and Kim Owens, as well as many friends from high school, college, and Middletown politics. He will be buried next to his parents in St. John’s Cemetery in Middletown.
Bill loved shopping, reading, Motown songs, laughing with friends, Coca-Cola, classical music and opera, and his Irish heritage. It was a joy to know him. His life was a gift to the world.
A life celebration is planned for a future date.
