William C. Rick III ’79

Died: February 11, 2024
Class of 1979

William C. Rick III, Ridgewood, NJ, died February 11, 2024.

A native of Ridgewood, Bill also had lived in Vienna, VA, and most recently Asheville, NC.

Bill was a 1975 graduate of Ridgewood High School, where he lettered in varsity football and basketball. In 1979, he graduated from Saint Michael’s with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration, and he played football and rugby during his undergraduate years.

Bill went on to have a successful career as an executive of sales and marketing in the technology industry, including for Applied Data Systems. He also worked with 3D Labs, Intergraph Corporation and Kubota Computer Graphics Systems and earned various sales awards. He also for a time was president of sales and marketing at Network Storage Solutions in Virginia, and early in his career worked for Floating Points Systems. After a prestigious 30-plus year career, Bill retired to Asheville, NC, where he loved living in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Bill will be remembered by his friends and family members for his love of “the five G’s,” as he would say: Grandfathering, gardening, grilling, golfing at Asheville Country Club, and of New York Giants football.

Bill continued to be a season ticket holder of the Giants, passed on from his father, and shared the tradition with his children and grandchildren. They watched every game during the season, no matter how bad, while always discussing next year’s strategy during the off season.

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Arrington-Rick, his mother, a son, a daughter, two sisters and extended family.
