Vito’s journey through life was marked by a profound dedication to education and an unwavering love for his family.

Born in Hartford, CT, Vito embarked on his academic pursuits at Windsor Locks High School in Connecticut, furthering his education at Saint Michael’s where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and the equivalent of a major in English literature. He continued his studies at the University of Connecticut, obtaining a master’s degree that would serve as a foundation for his professional career. He was, in fact, ABD (all but dissertation) for his doctorate.

Vito was a beloved professor for over 30 years, dedicating his life to inspiring students at the collegiate level, culminating in his retirement from full-time teaching at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. Positions prior to that included marketing professor at Tarkio College in Missouri and assistant professor at Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI.

His contributions to academia extended beyond the classroom as he was also a contributing writer to textbooks, enriching the minds of many through his writing. Colleagues and students alike regarded Vito as a creative and engaging educator, known for his humor and artistic flair that set him apart from the conventional image of an economics professor.

Vito’s life was enriched with love and partnership. He married Cathy on Leap Day, February 29, 1992, in a beautiful ceremony that marked the beginning of a remarkable journey together as soulmates and best friends. Their bond was strong, and their shared adventures spanned various countries and all 50 states, creating a tapestry of fondly remembered experiences.

He was passionate about reading and writing short stories. A talented cook, he delighted his family and friends with his love for traditional Italian cooking. He loved to play the drums as his father before him and his son after him.

Known as Gippy and Grandpa P-Ocho, Vito had a unique bond with each grandchild. He spent quality time with them, engaged with their interests and was a proud spectator at their activities and impromptu holiday performances. He was an engaging and entertaining storyteller.

Vito is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy, a son, a daughter, a stepdaughter, a stepson, two brothers and extended family.
