Thomas W. Mayo, Gulph Mills, PA, died May 28, 2024.

Born in Cohoes NY, he was educated before Saint Michael’s at St. Joseph’s School in Cohoes and was a graduate of La Salle Institute in Troy, NY. At Saint Michael’s, Tom earned his bachelor’s in microbiology, later continuing his studies at Syracuse University where he completed a master’s in industrial biology management. He served in the Army from 1953-1955.

Tom worked in the pharmaceutical industry. He started his career with Squibb, in New Brunswick, NJ, from 1956 to 1964, then moved on to Wyeth in Radnor, PA, (now Pfizer) from 1964 to 1995. He retired as assistant vice president of quality assurance for their international division.

He enjoyed traveling and did so all over the globe in his career in international pharmaceuticals and after retirement to his winter house in North Hutchinson Island, FL. He enjoyed studying ancestry and was able to trace the Sarrault line of his family back to Normandy, France. He was also an avid collector of Christmas ornaments and volunteered for the Upper Merion Sanitary Board.

Tom’s family asked that memorial donations be made to Saint Michael’s College.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Mary, three sons, and extended family, including nephew Stephen Mayo ’66. His brother, Maxim Mayo ’39, P’66, died in 2001.
