Thomas E. Dunn ’63

Died: November 28, 2024
Class of 1963

Thomas E. Dunn, West Boyleston, MA, died November 28, 2024.

He was a former Saint Michael’s staff member in the Admission and Financial Aid offices, serving four years before moving on to a 29-career at Assumption College (Worcester, MA), culminating with his title upon early retirement in 1996 as Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Tom was born in Portland, ME, graduating from Portland High School before coming to Saint Michael’s. After his long career in higher education in Admissions and Financial Aid at Saint Michael’s and Assumption, he fully retired from Manhattan University in Riverdale, NY, after 25 years there in semi-retirement roles. The joy Tom found in serving in education came less from the titles held and more from the opportunity to help kids reach their full potential.

Tom was an avid reader of World War II history and loved to play golf. He enjoyed watching old movies and horse racing and was even known to place the occasional bet. Time spent with grandchildren at their sporting events, theater performances, on vacations and at many other celebrations was his favorite.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Foley), a daughter, four sons, four brothers and extended family.
