Sister Jody Kearney M’91

Sister Jody Kearney, RSM, Rochester, NY, died October 18, 2023, after a long illness. She recently celebrated her 50th jubilee as a Sister of Mercy.

Sister Jody earned a B.A. from SUNY Geneseo, a master’s degree in education from Nazareth College and a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Saint Michael’s. She was also a certified spiritual director.

Her ministerial career included service in these Rochester diocesan schools: St. Thomas the Apostle, Annunciation, St. Louis and St. Joseph’s. She ministered for over thirty years at the Mercy Spirituality Center in many capacities: as director of the center, as spiritual director, as program director and as a frequent presenter. Jody’s musical and creative gifts enhanced many. She was an integral member of the Sisters of Mercy music group.

Sister Jody is survived by a sister, two brothers and extended family.
