Sean Cooley ’06

Died: October 8, 2022
Class of 2006

Sean Cooley, Altadena, CA, died October 8, 2022, after suffering complications from a heart attack and stroke. He was 38 years old.

Sean was born in Meriden, CT and spent his formative years there until moving to Vermont to go to attend Saint Michael’s College where he majored in journalism and kick-started his lifelong love of storytelling. He received a master’s in journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago where he met his wife Christine, his best friend Nick, and countless other friends who would become like family, immersing himself in the comedy scene there and becoming a mainstay at Second City, iO, Annoyance, and Playground theater.

In 2016, he moved to Los Angeles and quickly became a fixture in the food, travel, and cannabis community, writing countless articles, eating countless amazing meals, and amassing countless amounts of weed paraphernalia, all in the name of work. He was the life of the party: smart, witty, kind, funny, and an incredible listener who always gave out more than he took in.

While his death was a shock to many, it’s not the quantity of years that one spends on this earth that truly matters, but the quality, and Sean lived a life that was devoted to his friends, family, sense of adventure, and fun. He was a big supporter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Sean is survived by his wife, Christine, a brother and extended family.
