Peter R. Lalli ’71

Peter R. Lalli, San Diego, CA, died August 20, 2024.

Peter was born in Springfield, MA and grew up there with a brother and three sisters. He attended Holy Name Grade School and Springfield’s Cathedral High School (Class of 1965) before coming to Saint Michael’s where he majored in history, played baseball and basketball and met his future wife, Jane.

After graduation, Peter moved to San Diego to work in the family restaurant, Mario’s. In 1974, he and Jane married in San Diego, and later they had two daughters. Peter had a successful 50-year career in food sales, working for Pieri Distributing, Moceri Foods, Kraft, Joseph Webb and U.S. Foods, winning many President’s Cup sales awards along the way.

Peter loved music, and he loved to sing. He was a devoted grandfather or “Backa” to his grandchildren He also had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane, two daughters, three sisters.
