John J. Hooben ’57

John J. Hooben, Holyoke, MA, died August 31, 2024.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he served as a corporal in the Army, both in the U.S. and Germany, following graduation from Saint Michael’s with a business administration degree.

He was the owner of John J. Hooben Insurance Inc. in Westfield, MA, for many years before retiring. He was a communicant and Eucharistic minister of St. Patrick’s Church. John was an avid golfer and a member of the Orchards Golf Club and Shaker Farms Country Club, where he scored four holes in one. He was active coaching basketball and soccer when his children were growing up.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary, a son, a daughter, two stepsons, two stepdaughters and extended family.
