John C. Makuch ’73

John C. Makuch, Des Plaines, IL, died March 9, 2024, after a long illness.

Born in Middletown, CT, Jack went on after receiving his Saint Michael’s bachelor’s to earn an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Vermont College.

Jack loved spending time with his two daughters, writing novels, painting, and enjoying the company of longtime friends from Church Street in Northbrook, IL. He had a great sense of humor, creating the “fun committee” at Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, where he worked as a marketing communications manager. He is loved for and will be remembered by many for his wonderfully kind, funny, and gentle-mannered soul.

He is survived by two daughters, his former wife, and a sister.
