Edward Olander ’64
Edward Olander, Southington, CT, died November 2, 2024.
Ed was raised in Plainville, CT, where he cultivated his roots and received his education. At Saint Michael’s he earned a bachelor’s degree in science.
After college, Ed worked for a time as a chemist for Allied Research Products, Inc. in Bridgeport, before going on to establish E&G Equipment and Chemical in Southington, a business he operated diligently for many years before shifting gears to become an educator at a Catholic elementary school in Waterbury, where he shared his knowledge and values with the next generation.
Throughout his life, Edward exemplified profound spirituality and enduring faith, embodying his beliefs through daily recitations of the Rosary. For over four decades, Edward dedicated his time to teaching religious education at Mary Our Queen and St. Dominic Churches, leaving an indelible impact on countless lives. His commitment to spiritual growth and service to his community served as a guiding light for those who knew him. In the 1980s he was a Shield Club supporter of the College.
Fascinated by clocks, he found joy in collecting, repairing and restoring them. His interests extended to antiquing and coin collecting, hobbies he enjoyed alongside his wife Geraldine (“Geri”), who died in 2015. He also had belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
Ed is survived by two sons and extended family.
