Edward J. Keating, Springfield, MA, died January 17, 2025. Ed was the College’s 1964 Alumnus of the Year and served as an Associate Trustee from 1971 to 1979.

A Springfield native, he graduated from that city’s Cathedral High School in 1948 before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Saint Michael’s. After college he served his country with distinction in the Army during the Korean War (1952-1954).

Ed owned and operated Sullivan, Keating and Moran Insurance Agency for 53 years. For18 years he served as a member of the Springfield Police Commissioners, alongside other extensive community service: He was a member of the American Legion Post 430, Veterans of Foreign Wars, John Boyle O’Reilly Club (gold card member), Hampden County Association of Insurance Agents, Saint Michael’s Alumni Association (Golden Knight member), Springfield Lodge of Elk’s #61 (life member), Emergency Medical Service Commission, Member of Outstanding Service to Law Enforcement, Western Mass Chief Association and 1980 John J. Burke Award winner.

He also was a President’s Medallion supporter of the College.

Ed was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Cavanaugh) Keating, and a daughter. He is survived by a daughter, two sons, special friend Doris Beauregard Shecrallah, and extended family.
