Daniel J. Kennedy ’57
Daniel J. Kennedy, Needham, MA, died December 4, 2019, the College learned recently.
Raised in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, MA, he graduated from that city’s Cathedral High School before coming to Saint Michael’s. He continued his education at Western New England University, where he received his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration.
Dan spent most of his career at General Accident Insurance Company as a vice president, and later at the Automobile Insurance Bureau in Boston.
He was a daily communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Needham. He was a man of faith, and the author of two books, 247 Days and A Mother’s Love is a Blessing. He was a Fellows Club supporter of the College and a former class agent.
Dan was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Haggerty), in 2016, and by a son (a Catholic priest and marathoner, Rev. Daniel Kennedy Jr., who died of a heart attack at age 34 in 2008).
At the time of his death, he was survived by a son, three daughters, a sister and extended family.
