Daniel C. Teter ’97
Daniel C. Teter, Denver, CO, died January 27, 2025, of metastatic melanoma.
Dan was born in Littleton, NH, and spent his formative years in Plattsburgh, NY, near the Adirondack Mountains, where he enjoyed camping and canoeing with his parents, his older sister Sarah, and his younger brother Jacob.
“Steakfry,” as he was known in during his Saint Michael’s College student days, studied computer science, played basketball, and most importantly, forged the lasting friendships that carried him through life’s ups and downs until the very end.
Dan met his future wife, Meg Lederer, when a rained-out Red Sox season opener landed them in a Boston bar near Fenway Park. They moved to Denver while Meg completed medical school and were married there on June 9, 2007. After a stint in Madison, WI, where their sons Connor and Logan were born, Dan and Meg returned to Colorado.
Dan was a pioneer in working from home, long before COVID made it popular. He spent almost his entire career working remotely as a software developer for Massachusetts General Brigham Integrated Healthcare System. In his free time, Dan liked to plan and complete do-it-yourself projects and home improvements. His enduring masterworks include deck furniture, a pergola, a porch swing, a garden wall and pathway, and a living room remodel that transformed the most-used room in the house to perfection.
Dan loved his family and the outdoors—in that order—and loved his family best while in the outdoors: skiing, hiking, playing on the beach, or sitting on the sidelines of a sporting event. He was a gifted athlete who was especially at home on the ski slopes. His family and friends will remember him making beautiful, wide turns going extremely fast—or, if not skiing down mountains, hiking up them.
Dan is survived by his wife, Meg Lederer, two sons, his parents, a sister, a brother and extended family.
