Current Research
My research lies at the nexus of labor and education, using applied econometric methods to shed light on parental decision making in early childhood. Broadly, I am interested in how policies and cultural norms directly shape family decision making, and in some instances, how they interact with one another to influence outcomes. My research is more focused on the early childhood period and is beginning to expand to study school aged children and how education policy affects student outcomes.
Recent News
Samantha Trajkovski, a new member of the economics faculty, was quoted in a story airing in November by reporter Calvin Cutler of the Burlington-area TV news team at WCAX Channel 3, a CBS affiliate about Vermont Gov. Phil Scott’s paid family leave plan. Then in January Cutler interviewed her again about Vermont’s child care crunch.
