An East Asian studies minor at Saint Michael’s opens the world to you with courses in History, Modern Languages, Religious Studies, and Anthropology. It also can be the gateway to careers in government, NGOs, education, business, medicine, science and technology, and many other professional fields.
From History, take courses such as Traditional East Asia, Modern East Asia, Human Rights in China, Tiananmen in History and Memory, and specialized upper division courses.
Chinese language classes starting from the introductory level and progressing to a course on Conversation are also available to you as an East Asian Studies minor. Plus, you can select from courses offered in the Religious Studies department including Hindu Religious Thought and Buddhist Religious Thought.
Study Abroad opportunities in China as well as in Japan provide Saint Michael’s students with life-changing experiences that nurture an awareness of global citizenship and often lead to life-long friendships and professional associations.
