What brought you to Saint Michael’s College?

I was drawn to Saint Michael’s because of its strong liberal arts tradition and the opportunities it offered to study. The warm, welcoming community and campus played a significant role in my decision. After transferring, I quickly realized that the tight-knit atmosphere of the student body and the vibrant community of Burlington would provide the ideal environment for my personal and academic growth. I’ve been very happy with my decision, made great friends, found wonderful mentors, and loved all that living in Vermont has to offer.

Saint Michael’s commitment to student initiatives was a major draw for me. I was excited to contribute to the campus community, and I helped found the Student Investment Fund. As a founding member, I’ve had the opportunity to invest real money in an endowment-based fund, provide financial literacy to other St. Mike’s students, and develop relationships with alumni in the field, who have come to campus as speakers. This experience has not only allowed me to grow my valuable leadership skills but also to make a tangible impact on campus.

Where do people see you on campus?

During the week, you will typically see me running to class with a 40 oz black coffee and probably a coffee stain on my shirt. I am involved around campus as the President and Founder of the Saint Michael’s Student Investment Fund, so I am in the library quite often doing equity research and preparing for our meetings. Additionally, I do enjoy working out, so most days I am either out for a run around campus or in the gym, lifting. I also love being outside and playing sports, so I decided to join rugby and will frequently be out in the 3s practicing. Plus, I love to ski so you might catch me heading off campus to use my Student Sugarbush pass on powder days in the winter.

What is your favorite thing about the academic experience at St. Mike’s?

Having a strong relationship with my professors has always been something I wanted. It allows me to get so much more out of class, which is why I chose St. Mike’s. The liberal arts education showcases students from all types of backgrounds, all mashed together in small class sizes. This is the strength of the academic experience here. By building these relationships, your professors can see the hard work you put in day in and day out, provide guidance when needed, explore interesting conversations beyond class, and maybe even put you in contention for an endowed scholarship in the respective departments. Outside of class, I appreciate that my professors have helped me with various things such as job applications, writing pieces, and research projects I do for fun, and they’ve provided support with challenges. At any larger institution, you would not be able to get this kind of individualized attention, support, or feedback from your professors.

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

My favorite thing to do on campus is to grab a coffee in the morning at Einsteins and see all my friends walking to class—no better way to start the day than with some caffeine and a quick conversation with friends.

How are you hoping your St. Mike’s education will prepare you for the future?

St. Mike’s has prepared me to be proactive, hardworking, and comfortable meeting new people. These skills I have learned have allowed me to develop as a student as well as an individual. A liberal arts education allows students to not only get their degree in their respective field but also have a strong background in other subjects, making it easier to find common ground and develop relationships with others. I know this will help me become well-rounded both professionally in my career and personally, after college. After graduation, I will be working at GlobalFoundries, an American-based semiconductor company, where I will be in a financial analyst role and continuing the work I did as an intern this past summer.
