‘The Burial At Thebes’ opens in McCarthy Arts Center
The Department of Fine Arts presents “The Burial At Thebes.” This play, by Irish poet laureate Seamus Heaney, is a retelling of the classic tragedy “Antigone.”
When Creon, king of Thebes, grants burial to one of her brothers, but not the “treacherous” other, Antigone defies his order, believing it her duty to answer to a higher law and bury all of her close kin.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday, March 21-23, at 7:00 p.m. in the McCarthy Arts Center. They are free and open to the public. This is an UpLIFT event.
