Engineering students learn through creation
Barbara O’Donovan, Saint Michael’s Engineering Program Co-Director and Instructor, brought her EG 100 Introduction to Engineering students into the MakerSpace last week to tackle a hands-on project building circuits together. O’Donovan said the class allows students to explore different disciplines in engineering. In previous weeks, they’ve discussed basic electrical theory and engaged in a follow up activity where students built and tested different types of circuits using solderless breadboards.
“It is important for students to connect the concepts they’re learning in class to hands-on applications of the theory through design opportunities,” O’Donovan said.
