The Student Spotlight Series is a new feature to highlight Saint Michael’s students’ lives in all corners of campus. Students’ answers have been lightly edited for style and clarity.

Swapnil Jhajharia ’24, from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, India, is a double major in Psychology and Statistics. Jhajharia is graduating this spring and shared what his college experience has been like at Saint Michael’s.

What brought you to Saint Michael’s College?

I was looking for a liberal arts college with a small community, adventure sports, and a lot of nature. St. Mike’s had all of this and a lot more.

Where do people see you on campus?

I have contributed to the St. Mike’s community in many capacities, but at the moment people see me on the long trail as an instructor for the Adventure Sports Center. I represent the Purple Knights through the Cross-Country team and I host events as a Resident Assistant in Cashman Hall.

What is your favorite thing about the academic experience at St. Mike’s?

I really appreciate the opportunities to connect with our professors and to be able to build on their work through academic research.

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

I like having dinner with my friends in Alliot because you feel the warmth of the community, can share laughs with friends, and there is always ice cream at the end.

How are you hoping your St. Mike’s education will prepare you for the future? (Do you have after-graduation plans?)

I am hoping to go to graduate school. The liberal arts education from Saint Michael’s has been crucial in helping me develop a wide range of lenses when approaching any topic of inquiry.
