Kristin McAndrew named College's new enrollment chief
Kristin McAndrew, former director of admission, graduate business programs at University of Notre Dame, has been named vice president for enrollment and marketing at Saint Michael’s College. She will begin her role effective early September.
“We are so excited to have Kristin McAndrew join Saint Michael’s College. Her excellent record of accomplishments, thoughtful character, and strategic thinking displayed during her on-campus interviews made her the clear choice,” said President Lorraine Sterritt. “We feel confident that her nearly 25 years of experience in enrollment will help the College achieve its goals in a very challenging market.”
At Notre Dame, McAndrew led a team of 12 professionals to grow the school’s portfolio of graduate programs, meet enrollment and discount goals for a flagship new graduate program, and increase the yield rate for the school’s MBA program, all in a very competitive marketplace. She was also instrumental in creating a data-driven enrollment strategy and oversaw the graduate school’s smooth transition to Slate, the university’s new state-of-the-art CRM system.
McAndrew said Saint Michael’s “is blessed with tradition, outstanding leadership, and a strong admission, financial aid, and marketing team, which all makes this position extremely desirable to me.” She added, “The College’s academic approach and its Edmundite Catholic values of intellectual pursuit and social justice in a community that welcomes all people, are values I am proud to represent. There is no better education to prepare students to succeed and to make a positive contribution to society.” She is a native of the eastern U.S., so she is delighted to return to the region to be closer to family. Her brother John McAndrew is a 1997 Saint Michael’s graduate
Prior to Notre Dame, Kristin McAndrew was at Saint Mary’s College, a Catholic, private liberal arts institution in Notre Dame, Indiana, where she served as director of admission until 2014. Similar in size to Saint Michael’s, Saint Mary’s met both enrollment and budget goals each year under her leadership of admission. In addition, McAndrew was able to increase Saint Mary’s visibility and improve its marketing through redevelopment of print publications and a new website both emphasizing new “branding” elements in colors, graphic look and carefully chosen language around appealing signature themes – a process Saint Michael’s recently has undertaken as well.
McAndrew also served as the director of admission at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was promoted to her position in 2001 after serving as the senior assistant director. Under her leadership, the admission team steadily increased applications each year to meet both enrollment and diversity goals. McAndrew has been a frequent presenter at national conferences, including at the Graduate Management Admissions Council, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and others.
McAndrew received her Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing from Emerson College, and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Humanistic Studies from Saint Mary’s College. McAndrew said she is looking forward to arriving in Vermont and joining the Saint Michael’s College family. “I can’t wait to start working with the team and with the College’s leadership. It is a tough time in higher education, but Saint Michael’s College has so much going for it. We will make the great education this College has to offer known far and wide.”
