I am the first of many students to do independent research on the complex topic of hedge funds and our library is lacking many essential texts on the subject. This book (Hedge Funds: Myths and Limits) is essential to anyone studying the topic and is certainly an authoritative text on the complex subject.
Thanks for the nudge to improve our hedge fund section. We have ordered Hedge Funds: Myths and Limits and a few others (Extreme Value Hedging, Hedgehogging and Hedge Funds Demystified. In addition, a multitude of scholarly and popular journal and magazine articles on hedge funds can be found in Library databases at: www.smcvt.edu/library/subject/business.asp.
Jared Diamond’s “Why is Sex Fun?” might be a good book to add to your collection.
We agree. We have ordered the book. Look for it on the New Books shelves by February 25.
We should get the "Planet Earth" collection on DVD for the library.
Done! Planet Earth is now available in our DVD collection. The call # is DVD P7121. Thanks for the suggestion.
Quit buying old movies. Let's get some new ones that are post 1980.
Actually, we regularly buy a mix of new and classic movies and will continue to do so. Many of the older movies that have recently arrived were requests from faculty members using them for courses. We are also systematically replacing our most-used VHS tapes with DVDs. Is there something new in particular you would like us to order?
There is a wobbly table on the first floor that squeaks when you write on it. I think it's the first on the left side of the library entrance
We have called this issue to the attention of Physical Plant. Thanks for letting us know.
In the downstairs computer lab it would not let me print to that printer. When I searched for library printers that specific printer did not come up. I had to print elsewhere.
All of the printers in the building have "Library" in the location field, but the two lab printers use the same naming convention as the other labs on campus. Search by location and you should not have any trouble finding them. For printing instructions, see Printing. Sorry about the confusion.
Movies: Blood Diamond and Anywhere but Here.
Done! Both are now in our DVD collection. Thanks for the suggestion.
The printers downstairs/main floor (at least) should print front and back.
You can always choose to print double-sided. Instructions for double-sided printing are now posted near the printer on the main floor.
A few years ago we tried setting the printer to always print front and back, and we found that most of the time students did not want double-sided copies. Since people then reprinted their documents single-sided, it did not actually save any paper at all, so we changed it back.
