Experience the Burlington arts scene
Take advantage of one of Saint Michael's most unique programs! All students in good academic and social standing are eligible to purchase a Flynn Center/Saint Michael’s Cultural Pass. The Flynn Center, located at Main and Church streets in the heart of downtown Burlington’s entertainment district, is a nationally renowned performing arts venue offering the best in jazz, hip hop, world music, dance, American roots music, Broadway tours and more.
How can I use the Cultural Pass?
For just a $30 activation fee, the Cultural Pass gives Saint Michael’s students FREE access to each event in the Flynn Center’s regular season and select special events that are announced throughout the year. Qualifying shows are always listed on the Flynn's Cultural Pass Web site. The Pass entitles students to one (1) free ticket per Flynn Center production. That means, in theory, students could go to over 40 different performances over the course of the academic year.
What is the Flynn Center like?
The MainStage is a restored Art Deco movie palace built in 1930 and seating over 1400 people. The 2009-2010 academic year features performances by the The Israel Ballet and Cirque Mechanics, Broadway tours of Camelot and Porgy and Bess, and much more. FlynnSpace is an intimate 150 seat black box, home to the jazz cabaret, experimental theater and performance art, and more.
How can I get the Cultural Pass?
Students need to fill out an application, which can be downloaded here or a hard copy can be picked up at the Knight Card Office (Alliot 207). Once completed, students should bring their applications and the $30 activation fee to the Knight Card Office.
Once I activate my Cultural Pass, how do I get tickets?
Students can order tickets any time throughout the current season. It is in students' best interest to get tickets for the very popular shows – such as the Broadway tours – as early as possible. Once a show is sold out, we cannot give students a ticket.
To order tickets for a performance:
Use the new ticket order form (hard copies are also available in the Knight Card Office). Once you have filled out your form, turn it in to the Knight Card Office during their regular business hours. Tickets must be ordered by noon at least seven (7) days in advance. You will receive a confirmation email from the Flynn within a few days, indicating that your tickets will be available at the Knight Card Office the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the performance. You must show both your Cultural Pass and your Knight Card ID in order to pick up your tickets.
