news story imageThe new Neil Sedaka blockbuster musical, BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO, is on stage at the Saint Michael's Playhouse, Tuesday, July 28 through Saturday, August 8, featuring Thomas Cannizzaro, Burlington native who appeared for the entire four-year Broadway run of Monty Python's Spamalot and on Broadway in Camelot. BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO performances are Tuesday, July 28 through Saturday, August 1, at 8 p.m. each evening, and Tuesday, August 4 through Saturday, August 8, at 8 p.m. each evening, and Saturday, August 1, and Saturday, August 8, also at 2 p.m., in the McCarthy
Arts Center on the campus of Saint Michael's College.

Neil Sedaka's most popular songs spin a light-hearted tale of mistaken identity, friendship and love at a Catskills resort in 1959. Two Brooklyn girlfriends, searching for a good time weekend, take us back to the innocent summers of "Laughter in the Rain," "Next Door to an Angel," "Solitaire," and "Love Will Keep Us Together" in this retro feel-good musical.

After a considerable Broadway run, Burlington native Thomas Cannizzaro says he is excited to make his first appearance at the Saint Michael's Playhouse, singing joyous Neil Sedaka music in a show his family can easily come see. It's been 16 years since he appeared locally in Godspell and before that in all the musicals at Burlington High School.

"I love to sing, and to make people laugh-I'm really excited to be in this show," Cannizzaro said. He appeared in eight shows a week for four years in Spamalot (original cast). He has appeared in tours of Grease (Brazil), Cabaret, The Velveteen Rabbit (Theatreworks USA), and regionally at the Goodspeed Opera House, Northshore Music Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse and on TV on Jay Leno, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and on the Tony's.

Now in his fifth Playhouse season, Andrews produced Barnum, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Suds, My Way, Pirates of Penzance and Big River.
