While presiding over the Saint Michael's College senior class, Michael Stefanowicz has found time to participate and lead a number of volunteer service activities at the college. The history major from Cohoes, NY, was honored for "the breadth and depth of his community involvement" and was presented the Commitment to Service and Engagement Award at the Vermont Campus Compact 2009 "Through a Civic Lens" Conference, held April 1, in the Davis Center at the University of Vermont.
Mr. Stefanowicz, a senior history major at Saint Michael's, is the son of Paul and Kathy Stefanowicz of Cohoes. He graduated

His work included co-coordinating the Special Events Program for three years and organizing numerous one-time service opportunities for his peers such as serv-a-thons, blood drives, community fundraisers and more. He founded the Parent-to-Parent (now called Vermont Family Network) Walkathon, which raised more than $16,000 its first year, to serve families with children with special needs. He was also cited for his involvement with Edmundite Campus Ministry where he has served as a Eucharistic Minister, team member, Rector of two retreats, and a Peer Adviser. Mr. Stefanowicz also serves as a member of the College Founders Society, which provides insights and tours for prospective Saint Michael's students.
